East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, continues Fall 2024 semester with a presentation by Jeyaprakash Chelladurai, Ph.D., assistant professor computer science and Haklin Kimm, Ph.D., professor, computer science. The presentation, “Cellular Automaton-Based Dynamic Emergency Evacuation with Real-time Visualization”, will take place on Wednesday, September 25, at 12 p.m. in Stroud Hall 404 (SITE). The presentation will also be live streamed on the ESU Live Events webpage.

Dr. Chelladurai and Dr. Kimm will discuss how a simulation tool can enhance emergency preparedness and response efforts by modeling evacuation strategies in various emergency scenarios. The presenters will delve into the development and significance of a simulation tool which has been crafted through interdisciplinary collaboration including computer science, emergency management, and urban planning. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the simulation’s algorithms, visualizations, and practical applications in real-world emergency scenarios.
