M&M’s are releasing the first new permanent flavor since 2022: Peanut Butter and Jelly.
The new flavor is supposed to “evoke the comforting experience of a classic PB&J sandwich,” said Gabrielle Wesley, chief marketing officer of manufacturer Mars Wrigley, during an interview with the New York Post.
Peanut butter M&M’s have long been a fan favorite, but fans are skeptical of the new flavor. During another interview, a critic said, “PBJ only works as the sandwich. Anything flavored like PBJ is usually gross.”
Some fans challenge the addition of this “new” flavor since there was a limited edition flavor back in 2009 named “Strawberried Peanut Butter.” This flavor was released as a promotional product for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Yet, according to Sporked, the brand reassured that the jelly flavor in the new candy is berry, setting it apart from the 2009 promotional candy.
Though the release of this new flavor is controversial amongst fans, the new candy is set to release in December 2024. Will you try it?
