LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— It's a big weekend for NASCAR fans here in NEPA.

Fans are piling into Pocono Raceway by the thousands, getting ready for the weekend.

28/22's Avery Nape was at the Tricky Triangle to see how the fans are getting revved up.

Hundreds of RVs, campers, and tents piled into the infield at Pocono Raceway.

The energy there was so high, you would think the race already began.

RVs and campers piled into the infield at Pocono Raceway Thursday.

Around 3,400 of these mobile homes are expected at the track this weekend- all for what many NASCAR fans consider to be the biggest weekend of the year.

"This is home track man. This is, it doesn't get any better than this," voiced James Hunt, New Jersey.

"You've got to come to Pocono Raceway for a weekend. There's nothing like it, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you'll make sure you're back here every year," said Kyle Chesney, New Jersey.

Grills, cornhole boards, and folding chairs at almost every campsite. Friends and family gathered full of anticipation for the weekend ahead. Many of them already have their minds made up about who is taking home the trophy.

"Ross Chastain. Every time. Oh, I mean, how many people have rode the wall in Martinsville? That would be zero, other than Ross," commented Hunt.

"As a Denny Hamlin fan, for some reason, he is just electric on this track," added Chesney.

"As a Denny Hamlin fan, you know, it's kind of his better track so it's exciting to come here as a fan," said Jacob Palmer, Butler.

And while these fans are definitely here for the races, they're also here for the community the track has created.

"You can stop at any single campsite in here and have a conversation or get offered a beer or, you know, play cornhole with any given person. You know, nobody's grouchy," expressed Hunt.

As for the rain in the forecast? These diehard fans will be at the track rain or shine.

"I'm not worried about that. The first year we were here there was tornado warnings and I watched people chasing their pop-up tents down the main drag," added Hunt.

"We have a little bit of mud here at our place. Not much mud but it's a little wet. But tomorrow it's gonna be locked in. We'll be ready to go for the rest of the weekend. 'til Monday morning baby.," expressed Chesney.

The gates will open to fans Friday at noon with the NASCAR Truck Series starting shortly after with practice and qualifying rounds. The truck series 200 will begin at 5:00 p.m.
