Potential ScamDetails Map On September 10th, 2024 at approximately 10:30am. The Pocono Township Police Department was made aware of a potential phone scam. The reporting party stated a woman claiming to be with the Pittsburgh Police Chief's Association had called them and asked for a donation. When they asked the caller if they could record the conversation, the person hung up.
This serves as a reminder to never give any personal information out over the telephone unless you know the person you are talking to. Each year millions of dollars are lost to potential scams. When in doubt, hang up the phone and report the incident to your local police department. It takes the efforts of everyone to stop these scammers from taking advantage of innocent people.
