On July 13, 2024, at approximately 1446 hours, Officers of the Pocono Township police department were dispatched to a report of a theft at Camelbeach. Upon further investigation Officers observed the defendant, Nemecio Vargas, a 42-year-old male from Brooklyn, New York, on video take the victim's backpack and then remove credit cards and the victim's State ID. When Officers located Vargas relaxing in the waterpark, they requested he provide them with his ID. Vargas then reached into his pocket and handed the Officer one of the stolen credit cards. All stolen items were returned to the victim and Vargas was taken into custody and processed on his charges of Theft, Receiving stolen property and Public Drunkenness.
