ARRESTDetails MapOn June 15, 2024, at approximately 0740 hours, a Pocono Township Police Department officer observed an unregistered Chevrolet van commit several traffic violations on SR0611 in Tannersville. Upon performing a traffic stop the officer made contact with the operator, Eugene M. Harris Jr. a 39-year-old male from Stroudsburg. While speaking to Harris, the officer observed signs of impairment. After further investigation Harris was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center. Upon receiving blood results, it was discovered that Harris was under the influence of marijuana at the time of his arrest. A consent search of Harris' vehicle yielded a handgun, marijuana and paraphernalia. Harris did not possess a concealed carry permit. Charges have been filed.
