On August 11, 2024, at approximately 2109 hours, the Pocono Township Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run accident in the parking lot of Barley Creek Brewing Company. Upon further investigation it was discovered that a male exited the business and proceeded to drive a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup into a parked vehicle. The pickup then fled the scene. At approximately 2159 hours, the suspect vehicle was located a the Roadrunner Sunoco in Tannersville. Officers located the operator, Alexander T. Amaral a 29-year-old from Milford, Massachusetts, passed out in the driver's seat of the running vehicle. Officers discovered that the pickup Amaral was operating was reported stolen out of Springfield, Connecticut. Upon waking Amaral, officers observed signs of impairment. After further investigation Amaral was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol along with charges stemming from possessing the stolen vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and other offenses. He was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center and then placed into the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await further court proceedings.

Amaral was arraigned by MDJ Jamie Levy and bail was denied.
