Pocono Township seeks applications from interested residents to fill a vacancy in the role of Zoning Hearing Board Alternate.
The Zoning Hearing Board meets on an as-needed basis and members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve three-year terms.
The Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB) is a quasi-judicial body that renders decisions on specific types of land use appeals and applications. The primary purpose of the ZHB is to assure fair and equitable application of the administration of the zoning ordinance. The ZHB hears appeals from zoning officer determinations and grants relief from the literal enforcement of the zoning ordinance in certain situations by means of a variance.
The Pocono Township Zoning Hearing Board consists of three (3) regular members and three (3) alternate members, who frequently participate and render decisions when regular members are unavailable.
Interested applicants should send an email of interest to Taylor Munoz, Township Manager at [email protected] and include in the subject line “Zoning Hearing Board Appointment.” A resume and/or qualifications are encouraged.
Applications must be submitted no later than Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Interested applicants must attend the Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. for an interview and consideration.
