New details released on East Stroudsburg University fire

SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — 28/22 News was able to get new information after a fire damaged the East Stroudsburg University Innovation Center Tuesday.

Officials for the school say they have plans to remove personal, office, and lab equipment, from the damaged building in Monroe County. They’re working to relocate university employees.

State police to conduct DUI checkpoint in Monroe County Memorial Day weekend

Pennsylvania State Police barracks within Troop N have announced they will be looking for impaired drivers during Memorial Day weekend.

The Stroudsburg barracks said a checkpoint will be conducted within Monroe County some time between Friday and Monday. The Lehighton and Fern Ridge barracks referred to both a checkpoint and "actively searching for impaired drivers."

3 arrested after shots fired outside of Airbnb in the Poconos

COOLBAUGH TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say three people were arrested Wednesday and are investigating a report of shots fired outside an Airbnb in the Poconos.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said in a release the three people arrested are 26-year-old Yervison Yohan Zapata-Zul, 23-year-old Luis Viera-Aguilar, and 26-year-old Hendrick Morales, all from Venezuela.
