Troopers Investigate 'Terroristic Threats' Toward Monroe County Wawa

The Wawa at 1781 Route 209 got the calls around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, troopers said.

The store was temporarily closed and employees were evacuated while police "conducted a walk-through and assessed the building," according to the release.

Nothing suspicious was found and the store reopened, police said.

The matter remains under investigation by PSP's Fern Ridge station.

Women wanted in alleged $3K Poconos retail theft

POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Two women are wanted in an alleged $3,000 theft from a store at the Pocono Premium Outlets.

The Pocono Township Police Department announced they are seeking help in identifying the suspects pictured below.

According to police, the two individuals above were involved in stealing $3,000 worth of product from the Sunglass Hut at the Pocono Premium Outlets on April 20.

Monroe County non-profit helping Haiti

NFL draft prospect from Monroe County dies at 25

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — An NFL draft prospect from Monroe County has sadly passed away.

Devastating news hit the football world as AJ Simon, a star at Pocono Mountain West High School, and later on at Bloomsburg University as well as the University of Albany, passed away Tuesday at the age of 25.

Man dead, woman rescued from burning home in Monroe County

HAMILTON TWP., Pa. -- A Monroe County man and his dog are dead, following a fire at their home.

But a woman was pulled out of the burning home alive. State Police troopers made the rescue overnight in Hamilton Township, near Stroudsburg.

Neighbors say the woman cared for her middle-aged son, who was in a wheelchair, the result of a car accident.

The victims haven't been officially ID'd but the tragic incident is bringing neighbors together.

“We were here when he got Buster, we knew how much he loved Buster.”

Man accused of Gerrity’s retail theft

The Pocono Township Police Department is searching for the identity of the suspect pictured in a retail theft that occurred at Lids in the Pocono Premium Outlets on April 13.

Monroe County man sentenced on torture charges

Ross Roggio of Stroudsburg was sentenced to 70 years in prison for the torture of an Estonian citizen back in 2015.

MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — A man from Monroe County will spend 70 years in prison on torture charges relating to his actions as a contractor in Iraq.

Ross Roggio of Stroudsburg was found guilty last year of numerous crimes, including the torture of an Estonian citizen back in 2015.
