Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

An 8-mile section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Northeast Extension will be closed over portions of the weekend between Route 903 (exit 87) and Pocono (exit 95).

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission said Interstate 476 is scheduled to be shut down in both directions 11 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday and again 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.

The closures will allow maintenance crews to make repairs near the Hawk Falls Mainline Bridge replacement project at mile marker 88.6 that are needed before winter.

Northbound motorists should take the following detour:

  • Route 903 north, 7.1 miles
  • Route 115 north, 2.1 miles
  • Interstate 80 west, 7 miles to exit 277
  • Reenter at Pocono Interchange.

Southbound motorists should take this detour:

  • I-80 east, 7.8 miles
  • Route 115 south, 1.8 miles
  • Route 903 south, 7.1 miles
  • Reenter at Route 903 Interchange.

State police and turnpike personnel will be positioned at the affected areas to assist drivers. Digital message signs will also provide information on the closure.
