The vice president of the Federation of Latinos for education about the cultures of Hispanic America or Flecha works beyond her role with the non-profit.

"What I do is video interviews, stories with soul, historia con alma right and I'm bringing people stories to the public," said Christina Luna from Cafe with Christina.

The bilingual woman has brought her love of storytelling to the Poconos sharing the stories of Monroe County's Hispanic and Latino communities on her YouTube Channel called Cafe with Christina.

From Barcelona, Spain Luna is able to bridge trust with her interviewees by talking in their native language.

Hispanic Heritage Month

"Sometimes I think should I do it in English for the other non-Spanish speakers to get to know the story only in Spanish but there are many English-speaking people and I think that the stories in Spanish for the Hispanics are important because as you say, it's their mother language like mine is, and it brings trust and safety to be able to speak in your own language," explained Luna.

Luna also works as a freelance content producer specializing in Hispanic businesses.

"In this community, we have the opportunity to have many Hispanics from different backgrounds from different Hispanic countries it's like we aren't all Mexicans who eat rice and beans and tacos right" stated Luna.

There's a growing Hispanic and Latino population in Monroe County.

For this Spaniard living in the U.S., she uses her platform to help fellow Hispanic and Latino immigrants navigate their surroundings more easily and effectively so they can live their best possible lives in Monroe County.

"I invite people to just meet your neighbors that are Hispanic get to know them learn some words in Spanish that will feel good about it, get to know them and their foods," added Luna.
