Public Notice In accordance with requirements of the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act No. 537, the Pennsylvania American Water Company is preparing to submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) an Act 537 Sewage FacilitiesPlan Update. This notice has been published to allow the general public to review and comment on the proposed Plan Update. This Plan Update is to document Pennsylvania American Water Company's (PAWC) acquisition of the collection, conveyance, and treatment system owned by the Manwalamink Sewer Company (MSC), which provides service to the entirety of the Manwalamink Development in Smithfield Township and Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County. The planning area is located within the Brodhead Creek Watershed and discharges into the Delaware River, which is classified by PADEP as Warm Water Fishes, Migratory Fishes (WWF, MF). The purchase of the MSC sanitary sewer system will be financed directly through PAWC and will not impact existing user rates. A 30-day review and comment period has been established from November 25, 2024, through December 31, 2024, to allow the general public to review and comment on the proposed Plan Update. The general public may review the proposed Plan Update, by appointment only, at the Manwalamink Sewer Company, 1 Fort Depuy Lane, Shawnee-On-Delaware, PA 18356, during normal business hours (9:00 am â 5:00 pm).
