East Stroudsburg University’s Provost’s Colloquium Series, an intellectual experience that promotes dialogue among ESU faculty, staff, students, and community, continues the Fall 2023 semester with a presentation by Jeyaprakash Chelladurai Ph.D., assistant professor, computer science, “Modeling the Emergence of Patterns Using L-Systems”, will take place on Wednesday, September 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Stroud Hall 117. The presentation will also be live streamed on the ESU Live Events webpage.

In this presentation Dr. Chelladurai will discuss the intersection of computer science and biology and explore how computer science methods, particularly L-systems, can be used to generate and visualize complex patterns in nature. There will be a focus on plant development models. Dr. Chelladurai will highlight the interdisciplinary nature of this work, which draws on ideas from biology, mathematics, physics, and art, and discuss how these models can be used to study emergent patterns in nature.
