POCONO PINES, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Calling all foodies, the Pocono Mountains Restaurant Week is underway.
Chef Dennis sautees up a delicious meal at the Jubilee Restaurant in Pocono Pines. His stuffed acorn squash will be on its new winter menu, but it’s being debuted this week as the business participates in the Pocono Mountains Restaurant Week.
Brush fire contained but still burning in Lackawanna County“We’re looking forward to see (sic) some old friends back and some new faces coming in the door,” said Chef Dennis McGuire, Jubilee Restaurant.
Running now through Friday, November 22, 50 restaurants in the Poconos are offering special deals for the week.
Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau Executive VP Brian Bossuyt says they came up with the idea to help businesses in between seasons.
“A lot of people are out now holiday shopping, so it’s a great way to get them to come downtown, go to our small businesses, and shop there. Try out some of our local restaurants and you know try new places that they haven’t been to or just go back to a place they haven’t been to in a while,” said Bossuyt.
For just 32 bucks you can get a three-course meal at the Jubilee during the promotion, a deal owner Bill Vangilder says is to show how they appreciate the community.
“Generations of family that are not only customers of ours and family friends, but generations of people that have worked here,” said Vangilder.
Being the second generation owner the restaurant prides itself on history.
“The train used to go directly past here before 940 was put in,” said Vangilder.
And they pride themselves in family, something Bossuyt can agree on as he worked as a bartender here for 25 years.
“I love being around people you know, just learning all the different things in the Poconos so working here was great and just being a part of the community,” said Bossuyt.
This week, you get to enjoy some food, but you can also win a $25 gift card at a participating restaurant. You go to the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau website and then you check in at that restaurant, to then possibly win!
