CHESTNUTHILL TWP., MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A 17-year-old will be charged as an adult after allegedly going on a crime spree across Monroe County, the district attorney states.
According to District Attorney Mike Mancuso, Monroe County law enforcement has filed charges against 17-year-old Kaiden Brown after a series of overnight crimes on April 26 in Chestnuthill Township.
On April 26, around 5:00 a.m., state police say they were called to Fairview Circle in Chestnuthill Township, for the report of a house window being shot at sometime overnight. Two people were home when the shooting occurred.
Throughout the morning, several incidents were reported to state police that were similar to the shooting and close in proximity.
Troopers said they were then called to the Bright Fuel gas station on Route 209 for a burglary report. Surveillance video allegedly showed two individuals attempting to get into the gas station and burglarizing a camper behind the building.
After reviewing the video, troopers identified one of the suspects as a 16-year-old boy whom they knew from prior police incidents. A second burglary at West End Tobacco and Vape, on Route 209, was reported, and surveillance showed the same two suspects from the previous incidents.
The second suspect was identified as Brown, who had a pistol and shot multiple rounds through the front window of the store. The juveniles then climbed inside, took several items, including nicotine vapes, THC products, and other items for purchase, police reported.
The 16-year-old suspect was later interviewed and admitted to police that he was part of the incident with Brown and that the two of them walked towards the West End Fairgrounds and fired 40 rounds of ammunition in different directions, according to District Attorney Mike Mancuso.
"Incidents involving juveniles and firearms will be prosecuted with the utmost seriousness to protect our neighborhoods and uphold the rule of law. Law enforcement agencies will continue to work diligently to locate the weapon and investigate any additional individuals involved."
