Beacon Hill Concerts invites you to “A Medieval Christmas: Hodie Christus Natus Est” performed by The Boston Camerata on Sunday, December 1 at 3:00pm at Beacon Hill Music Hall. The show features the vocals of Anne Azéma (with hand-held hurdy gurdy, harp, and organetto), Camila Parias, and Deborah Rentz-Moore.

The program provides a glimpse of Christmas spirituality from Medieval France, Italy, England, Provence. Music of the church and songs of private devotion around the theme of the Nativity, includes songs to the Virgin Mary, hymns, miracle ballads, sung in Latin, Old French, Old Provencal, Saxon, interspersed with readings of Medieval English texts of the Nativity, spoken by Anne.

French-born vocalist, scholar and stage director, Anne Azéma, has been intensely engaged since her student days with the song repertoire of the Middle Ages. Since assuming the directorship of The Boston Camerata in 2008, she has created over eighteen new programs and produced five solo CD recordings. You may remember her solo concert of Medieval songs at Beacon Hill in 2022 – her pure soprano voice, her gentle playing, and her learned remarks.

Joining her on stage are Camila Parias and Deborah Rentz-Moore, each with many years of experience performing medieval music.

Reservations: You must have a reservation to attend this concert. Reservations for The Boston Camerata open on November 1, one month before the concert date on a first-come-first-served basis. Make your reservation by emailing Dan, indicating the number of seats you wish to reserve and the NAMES of all attendees. Your reservation is not “official” until you receive confirmation from Dan and is only valid for the named attendees. There is no admission fee, only a “suggested donation” at the door of $20 adult / $15 senior / $5 student. The concert is expected to be full, so mark your calendar and make your reservation on November 1 (or very soon thereafter).

Sidnie and I look forward to seeing you on December 1 for what will surely be another unforgettable Beacon Hill concert.
