The Monroe County coroner’s office has identified the victim of a Smithfield Township fire.

John Stoneking, 68, was pronounced dead Sunday evening after an apartment fire on Poco Lane.

The causes of death were thermal injuries and inhalation of products of combustion, the report said. It was ruled an accident.

Marshalls Creek Fire Company said on social media that firefighters were called to the building, a multiunit apartment, just after 5 p.m. Outside of the man who died, officials said three others were hospitalized for burns.

Crews were at the scene of the fire for about five hours, according to the fire company.

A state police fire marshal is investigating.
