PA live! (WBRE) — Larissa and Dominique are here notably during September, which is National Suicide Prevention Month.
"Actually, we have two new efforts in our area. One is we're working on a lost team, which means local outreach to survivors of suicide. It's a volunteer-based team. People are trained and they're able to go and support people who lost those loved ones to suicide," said Larissa.
"So in all three counties, we are doing suicide fatality reviews. So in Pike County, it's called Death Review Team where we review a suicide death and an overdose death. But then in Monroe, we are on our third one in two weeks for this is a fatality review. Then our first one in Carbon in November. So with that, we picked an individual who has passed away by suicide and reviewed their life from birth to death and we looked at any services they've been connected to as a child or as an adult. We do like next of kin interviews, where we talk to their family members and just try to gaps of services where someone could have stepped in and supported," explained Dominique.
