Art Classes include all grade levels 10th-12th.
How long have you been teaching at SASD?
This is my first year teaching in the Stroudsburg Area School District.
What is your favorite part about teaching?
My favorite parts about teaching are seeing students chat with each other, share ideas, and have fun making art together.
If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?
If I would teach other subjects I would teach computer science, health, or forensic science. I admire computer components and would love to build a computer myself. Fun fact, I play PC Building Simulator in my free time. I also enjoy learning about the human body and how the tiniest bit of evidence can solve decade-old mysteries.
If you had gone into another profession, what would it be and why?
If I had gone into another profession I would love to be an art supply store owner or independent artist. Working at my university campus store was amazing. Hearing everyone talk about their in-progress artworks and being able to help them decide what supplies work best was uplifting. Side note, I do appreciate a fully stocked, organized by color and medium art store. I would also love to create art for a living and have an online store for stickers, prints, shirts, etc. I find packing orders also enjoyable.
What is something that most people may not know about you?
In my free time, I draw, write, and film stories with my original characters. I also play video games, preferably simulation games or games with a good narrative.
What makes you smile?
Corny puns and dad jokes always make me chuckle.
Who do you look up to?
I look up to my late grandmother who was a hard-working single mother of three. She was an English teacher working in a struggling neighborhood. She passed before I went to college for teaching and I just hope she is proud of who I’ve become.
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is graduating from university with an art education degree and being accepted to teach at my alma mater, Stroudsburg High School.
What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?
It does not matter where you come from or how much money you have, you can achieve your dreams with enough patience, dedication, and work. Do not let where you come from define the person you want to be.
