Hamilton Elementary
What subject(s) do you teach?
Math
What grade (s) do you teach?
K-4
How long have you been teaching at SASD?
This is my 26th school year in Stroudsburg.
What is one important lesson you have learned as an educator?
You can never NOT model. Students are always learning and soaking in knowledge. Teachers are huge models that students emulate in their learning, so be good ones.
What is your favorite part about teaching?
My favorite part about teaching is getting to meet all the students in the building and helping those that could benefit from a little extra. I have the opportunity to go into different classrooms daily and interact with various grade levels all day long. It is very rewarding.
What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?
Never give up. Working hard pays off. You may not see that reward right away, but it will come.
Why did you choose the subject that you teach?
I didn’t always understand the way math was taught as a student, so I can relate to how kids feel when they see other students grasp things quickly while they struggle. We all learn differently and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share mathematical ideas with students to help them understand in ways that make sense to them.
