Stroudsburg Golf 2024 Season Preview

After a 9-7 finish to the 2023 season, Coach Pete Sobrinski looks to lead the Stroudsburg Golf team to another successful season. Sobrinski hopes the team will go at least .500 and make the league tournament, which they did last year. The team has also sent golfers to the state tournament for the last three years.

Hunter Probst, ’25, spearheads the team. Probst has qualified for three consecutive state tournaments and placed 28th in the state in last year’s competition, shooting +4 over two days. Probst also broke his school record last season with a six-under-par 66.

Other seniors joining Probst are Sam Diola, Paulie Maccarrone, and Alex Webster. Sobrinski views all three of them as breakout golfers. Others he believes could be breakout golfers this year include Jack Jasionowicz, ’26, Zach Fritz, ’26, Colin Wrazien, ’27, Chris Trethaway, ’27, and Gael Ramirez, ’27.

Having at least a .500 record and making the EPC tournament is key for Coach Sobrinski to consider this season a success, two things they accomplished last year. He would also consider this season a success if Probst qualifies for the state tournament.

Golf kicked off their season in a successful matter, defeating Easton, Allentown Central Catholic, and Pocono Mountain West, shooting a combined team total of 415. Their next matchup is on August 20 against Freedom, East Stroudsburg South, and Pocono Mountain East.
