SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP MONROE COUNTY, PA NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN INTERMUNICIPAL TRANSFER OF A RESTAURANT LIQUOR LICENSE FROM GIANT, LLC, POCONO SUMMIT TO SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP FOR WAWA, INC. The Board of Supervisors of Smithfield Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, will hold a special public meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Township Municipal Building located at 1155 Red Fox Road, East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, PA 18301. As a meeting agenda item, a public hearing will be held at which time the Township Supervisors will inform, discuss, accept public comment and take testimony on an application for the transfer of a restaurant liquor license-License Number R-21053-from the Giant, LLC located at the intersection of SR 940 and Long Pond Road, Pocono Summit to Smithfield Township for a Wawa, Inc. that will inter alia house a restaurant and that will be operating at 237 Mosier Farm Drive, Smithfield Township (East Stroudsburg mailing address), PA 18301. Under the PA Liquor Code, the Applicant must request approval of the transfer by Smithfield Township and at least one (1) public hearing pursuant to public notice must be held by the Smithfield Township Supervisors for the purpose of receiving comments and recommendations of interested individuals residing within Smithfield Township concerning the intent to transfer the license. The Township shall approve the request unless it finds that doing so would adversely affect the welfare, health, peace and morals of the Township or its residents. Moreover and even with township approval, such a transfer would still be subject to approval by the PA Liquor Control Board. Immediately following this public hearing and on the same day, time and place, the Board of Supervisors will then continue with the public meeting to inter alia consider, vote and/or take official action on a township resolution approving (or disapproving) of said transfer and/or take official action on any of the matters discussed at the public hearing. Any and all interested persons and parties are invited to attend either or both the public hearing and the public meeting and offer any public comment thereon prior to the Board of Supervisors taking official action.
