EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local nonprofit is stepping up to help families in the Caribbean Islands left in the path of destruction by Hurricane Beryl.

A list of names with check marks next to them represents families supported by the Just Care Back non-profit in Stroudsburg.

Chantal Fulgencio, chief operating officer/co-founder, of Just Care Back, said “We are responding with an emergency relief for the victims of Hurricane Beryl.”

The organization has worked with these families, schools, and children's shelters in Grenada and Carriacou by providing first aid and school supplies. But now they’re helping them through destruction.

“These are people that we know, people that we love, people who have lost their homes and their livelihood, so we just really want to show support to them. Show them love and let them know that people are thinking about them and keeping them in their prayers for relief and recovery,” Fulgencio says.

Dozens of barrels stocked with non-perishable food, clothing, and toiletries are packed and ready to be shipped to the hurricane victims.

Now the nonprofit has a call out to the community for donations including rope, batteries, or any essential items to be shipped out this week.

Extra hands coming from other local organizations like the Kiwanis of the Poconos Daybreak to help fulfill their goal of providing supplies and hope.

If you’d like to donate to Just Care Back’s emergency relief packages, you can drop off any supplies at the Weis in Stroudsburg on route 611, the Pocono YMCA, or the Stroud Rec Department in East Stroudsburg.
