Mountaineer Market excites SHS students

Mountaineer Market, a store for students, is the newest addition to Stroudsburg High School opened on September 18, 2023.

Located by the cafeteria, students can visit it during their lunch period. They accept all forms of payment, including Apple Pay.

The Mountaineer Market was formed by special education teachers, Ms. Heather Nowosad and Ms. Sherri MacIntyre, after they saw how successful Common Threads and Commons Grounds, and Common Delivery were– other student-run services by Nowosad and MacIntyre.

Alex Bonnar, 10, stated, “It’s a great addition to the school and I love going there during lunch to grab a snack.”

Nowosad and MacIntyre wanted a place where athletic teams, including those from visiting schools, could grab merchandise and snacks.

Not only do they sell snacks, but school supplies, and school-approved polo shirts are stocked throughout the store.

The store works with the Interact Club a social service club within our school and students from different service clubs. The goal is to have the store completely student-run, giving the students looking to go into the work field hands-on experience.

The reaction to the school store has been fantastic. “We are busy every period, it’s been a very very good start,” said Nowosad.
