MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Rain and snow made commuters' overnight and morning commutes messy.
Driving in Barrett Township early Monday, dash camera footage shows heavy snow packed down on Route 390.
"The road is crazy. Fog, lots of fog. The visibility is very poor." said Baltimore Anderson, Philadelphia.
Areas like Barrett and Pocono Township saw more than three inches. That mixed with some rain led to a heavy cleanup for plow truck drivers.
Hundreds of plow trucks like this one have been out overnight and into the morning working to keep the roads passable. PennDOT also placed temporary speed restrictions on interstates 80, 81, 84, and 380.
Downed utility pole closes Route 93 in Sugarloaf28/22 News spoke to some drivers who trek out in the storm about what conditions looked like.
"They were pretty rough, I left with my CRV this morning," said William Bennett, Dingmans Ferry, "I had to go back for a second vehicle because the first one wasn’t making it." continued Bennett, "It got packed pretty quick and I think the moisture underneath didn’t help it either."
Baltimore Anderson drove in from Philly, he says did not see snow on the roads until he hit the Poconos, where drivers were more cautious.
"A lot of people are driving carefully, but some don’t know the roads so you know (I saw) a few accidents on the road you know," said Anderson.
With dozens of plows on the roads, PennDOT urges drivers to keep at least six car lengths of distance behind a truck, for both your and the truck driver's safety.
"Just take it slow, be easy on the corners," said Bennett.
