Monroe County DA investigating fraudulent mail-in ballot requestsThat's the ultimate goal, so says Monroe County election officials.
They flagged about 30 voter registration and mail-in ballot applications.
"I noticed right away when they came in. They were mailed to us the applications and they were dated beginning in June some were dated in July some were dated in August some were in September. For somebody to hold on to voter registration applications that long, it just wasn't right to me," said Sara May Silfee, Director Of Elections/Voter Registration.
She noticed other issues.
"There were discrepancies. People voted and canceled here already. The one person was deceased," May-Silfee explained.
So they immediately contacted the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, which launched an investigation.
The DA announced Tuesday they are focusing on a company named Field and Media, a subsidiary of Fieldcorps, an Arizona-based organization working out of Lancaster County.
Along with human eyes checking out the paperwork, computers also verify the submitted voter information.
"We have a number of checks and balances in place, the fact that somebody thinks they, they can circumvent it, it's not true," Christy said.
