Cassadi Newsome, 19, walked out of district court covering his face after waiving his preliminary hearing Tuesday morning.
He's accused of sexually assaulting three children at Inch by Inch Child Care on Route 940 in Pocono Summit.
Police say Newsome started working at the daycare in July of 2024 doing odd jobs but was was then hired to help with daily activities in his mother's classroom.
Edwin Abrahamsen Jr. is representing one of the families whose daughter was allegedly abused by Newsome.
Police say the 4-year-old told her parents Newsome kissed her on the mouth with his tongue and touched her buttocks during nap time.
The family says they reported the alleged abuse to the daycare's owner, Amanda Mulikan, who police say failed to report it to authorities.
She has been charged with failure to report, but tells Newswatch 16 she did report the incident and plans to contest the charge in court next month.
According to court paperwork, police conducted a polygraph test on Newsome during which he admitted to inappropriately touching the three victims several times a week.
Newswatch 16 spoke with the owner of Inch by Inch Daycare over the phone, she says Newsome is temporarily suspended following the investigation.
Newsome is due back in court for a formal arraignment in April.
