A fight between two men during a custody exchange in Stroudsburg ended in a fatal stabbing, leaving a father dead, police said.

Justin Martinez, 30, fatally stabbed Robert Lozano III, 41, of Stroudsburg during the altercation about 4:20 p.m. in the 300 block of Main Street, Stroud Area Regional police said in a news release.

Lozano was dropping his children off with their mother when Martinez, the mother’s brother, met him on the front porch and they began fighting, according to the release.

Witnesses told authorities the fight began on the porch before the two fell to the sidewalk, police said. Lozano was found there suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper body, the release states.

The ground was covered in blood and a steak knife was found near the porch, according to authorities. Martinez called 911 and said he stabbed a man, according to the release.

Lozano was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries about 4:45 p.m.

Martinez was arraigned Monday morning on a charge of homicide. He was sent to Monroe County jail without bail.
