Interstate 380 is Closed in Monroe County Due to Downed Utility Lines

Allentown, PA - There are downed utility lines on Interstate 380 in Monroe County due to Tropical Storm Debby.

Interstate 380 north and south are closed between Exit 3 (PA 940) and Exit 8 (PA 423, PA 611 to PA 423). The highway will remain closed until the utility company repairs the lines. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes.

PennDOT is closely monitoring roadways and the impacts of flooding due to heavy rains with the arrival of Tropical Storm Debby to the region.

During this weather event motorists should watch for downed trees and utility lines, ponding on roadways and flooding in poor drainage areas while traveling.

PennDOT also cautions motorists to never drive through flooded roadways, as it takes just two feet of rushing water to carry away most vehicles. Anyone who drives around barriers intended to close a road can face increased penalties if emergency responders are called to rescue motorists who disregard traffic control signs.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com<http://www.511PA.com>. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
