MOUNT POCONO BOROUGH, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— There are many questions left unanswered in Monroe County after two people were discovered dead inside a home two days before Christmas.
It was quiet in a Mount Pocono neighborhood where police say a double homicide took place on Monday.
According to a release, the killings were so violent, police felt they had no choice but to barge through the door.
On Monday, Pocono Mountain Regional Police were dispatched to this home located at 16 Brookeville Terrace in Mount Pocono for a welfare check.
When they got there, police say conditions at the scene led them to breach the door of the home.
Once they entered they found 47-year-old Joann Alberti and 54 year-old Craig Zigarelli dead inside the house.
Police say they went to the home after a caller reported they hadn't heard from a family member in a few days.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief Chris Wagner says both deaths were considered violent, and happened inside the home.
Police say there's no danger to the public and the investigation is being treated as a homicide investigation.
28/22 News reached out to Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department Thursday and spoke with an officer on duty who says no further information will be released at this time.
