Grammy Nominations

On Friday, Nov 8, 2024, Grammy nominations were announced. Fans on every social media platform prayed their favorite artist would gain a nomination.  

“I hope Gracie Abrams, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift get a nomination. I really love their albums and they have had so much fame recently.” Tess Nowosad, ‘26.

There are many categories of The Grammys. The five main categories are album of the year, record of the year, song of the year, best pop duo, and best pop vocal album. 

Best pop duo nominations go to Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams for “Us,” Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga for “Die With a Smile,” Billie Eilish and Charli XCX for “Guess,” Beyoncé and Post Malone for “Levi’s Jeans,” and Ariana Grande, Brandy Norwood,  Monica Arnold  for “That Boy is Mine.”

Taylor Swift is one of the most anticipated recipients of a nomination along with Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Best pop vocal album nominations go to Taylor Swift for “Fortnight,” Sabrina Carpenter for “Short n’ Sweet,” Billie Eilish for “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” Ariana Grande for “Eternal Sunshine,” and Chappell Roan for “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.”

Chappell Roan is a newer artist this year and her nominations are no surprise. She has attracted millions of fans with her unique style of music and personality.

Song of the year nominations go to Sean Cook for “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Billie Eilish for “Birds of a Feather,” Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga for “Die With a Smile,” Taylor Swift and Post Malone for “Fortnight,” Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us,” Chappell Roan for “Good Luck Babe,” Sabrina Carpenter for “Please Please Please,” and Beyoncé for “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

Sabrina Carpenter owned the charts over the summer with her highly anticipated album “Short n’ Sweet.”

Record of the year nominations go to The Beatles for “Now and Then,” Beyoncé for “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Sabrina Carpenter for “Espresso,” Charli XCX for “360,” Billie Eilish for “Birds of a Feather,” Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us,” Chappell Roan for “Good Luck, Babe,” and Taylor Swift and Post Malone for “Fortnight.” 

Kendrick Lamar had a growth in fame over the summer with his feud with Drake causing the song “Not Like Us,’ to be written about it. 

The most awaited nomination for album of the year go to André 3000 for “New Blue Sun,” Beyoncé for “Cowboy Carter,” Sabrina Carpenter for “Short n’ Sweet,” Charli XCX for “Brat,” Jacob Collier for “Djesse Vol.4,” Billie Eilish for “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” Chappell Roan for “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” and Taylor Swift for ‘The Tortured Poets Department.”

The biggest stars shown through in this category with many returning artists like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Beyoncé. Taylor has the most album of the year nominations with seven and Beyoncé has the most Grammys in history with thirty-two.

Tess, ’26,  reflected on her hopes for the nominations saying, “I am so happy about the nominations, and I knew that they were all going to get nominated.” 

The Grammys will be held on Feb 2, 2025.
