POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A giant gingerbread creation is now on display at Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos as part of their annual snowland celebration.
Celebrity Chef Ashley Holt made the display as part of a competition with TV star and pastry chef Duff Goldman.
Both chefs unveiled their displays on Wednesday and will now compete for a cash prize for charity.
Guests at the Pocono Township and Maryland Great Wolf Lodges are encouraged to post the gingerbread on social media.
The chef whose display gets the most shares will win $15,000 for the charity of their choice.
"I've been so excited to share this gingerbread house with the world. I've been working on it for almost 2 months now and it is a fun amazing epic celebration. Everything almost everything that you see is edible. I wanted to make a really fun celebratory lodge to be able to celebrate the season celebrate Great Wolf Lodge," Holt explained.
Jack Frost slopes open for winter season in Kidder Township"I just wanna know how much frosting she used because that seems like a lot right?" guests Areane Liddell and Mason said.
"The roof panels are textured with the royal icing, the slide is coated in sugar. The pool is filled with 130 gallons of buttercream, gum drops all over the roof yeah there's a lot there's a lot there," Holt continued.
"Perryville, Maryland, is our property. We call our sister, property is designed and created by Duff Goldman. The two of them kinda went head to head if you will they love the competitive spirit to build it, so it's not really about who built the best one. It's really more about who can get the most likes by the guests that are in a hotel. We then donate $15,000 to the one who gets the most likes and $10,000 to the second runner-up," Great Wolf Lodge Poconos General Manager Bill Colavito explained.
"Ice and Smiles is a nationwide nonprofit. We have a network of 13,000 bakers around the country that volunteer their time and talent to serve critically ill children and their siblings, dream cakes, and fun cakes for different celebrations. As much as we love Duff too, we are looking forward to beating the Perryville location with the most shares, but Ashley created such an incredible gingerbread design that we're really honored she supports our organization," said Ice and Smiles Marketing Manager Chelsea Boog.
"We loved it! We wish we could have one just like it," Areane added.
If you are not able to make it out to Great Wolf for Snowland, you are still able to support the non-profits by posting your own Great Wolf-inspired holiday photo using one of the designated hashtags.
