Fundraiser Hopes To Give Kids In Need A Brighter Christmas

An event this weekend in Monroe County will help make Christmas brighter. As it supports the Olsen Christmas Wish.

The fundraiser began in 2006 to help the family of Jeff Olsen, a fallen Stroud Area Regional Police Officer. Since then its grown to help over 200 kids in need. This Saturday, a motorcycle jeep truck ride, Tricky Tray and 50-50 raffle will be held at Rudy’s Tavern in East Stroudsburg.

Stroud Area Regional Police Officer Chris Shelly says, "We’re trying to remember our fellow brothers and sisters that have passed away too soon, starting with Jeff Olsen, that’s why it started. So we do this in their memory to help other people. We think it’s kind of a win-win situation."

Rudy's Tavern Owner Kelly Quaresimo says, "Without the businesses support and without our community’s support this wouldn’t be, we wouldn’t be able to help 200 kids. I’m very proud to be a part of it, I know we all are."

Registration for the ride starts Saturday at noon with riders departing at 1. Prizes will be drawn at 4pm and you do not have to be present to win. All proceeds from the event will go towards giving local children an amazing Christmas.
