POCONO TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Locals are gathering this weekend to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.
Camelback Ski Resort and Pennsylvania Special Olympics partnered on Saturday to host Freezin' for a Reason.
The event featured raffles and a silent auction for high-ticket items like Yeti coolers and Oakley ski goggles.

While you may not like getting doused in freezing temperatures, she says she does not mind.
"It's just a fun way to raise money. Usually, I have the instructors come in and throw the ball to try and dunk me or splash me, uh it's a fun time. It looks worse than it actually is until like 2:00 p.m., then you know, it's time to go back inside and warm up," said Victoria Mercado, the Head of the Snow Sports Department at Camelback Ski Resort.
Organizers of Freezin for a Reason hoped to raise at least $2,000 to $3,000 to benefit Special Olympics.
