Forgery suspect wanted for allegedly trying to steak $5.7K

CRESCO, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police are looking for a suspect who they say tried to withdraw $5,700 from a bank in Monroe County.

According to the Pocono Mount Regional Police Department, on August 7 officers were called to the First Keystone Bank in Cresco after a man tried to withdraw $5,700 from a checking/savings account.

The suspect did provide identification but the bank manager could not positively identify him as one of the account holders, police said.

After being denied, the suspect fled the store before police could arrive. Later officers said the actual account holder confirmed that theft was attempted.
