Football prepares to honor their seniors

Tonight, the Stroudsburg Football program will hold a ceremony to honor their 23 senior players this Fall.

Seniors Connor Bedeau, Xavier Bernard, Brian Burns, Kamari Coleman, Armani Crespo, Jeremy Cruz, Anthony Delgado, Ethan Dudsak, Andrew Elliot, Jaylon Francis, Xander Fredenberg, Austin Herman, James Kelly, Mehki Kirkland, Emaunel Laboy, Nicolas Laporte, Brando Maura-Ramirez, Israel Mendez-Vazquez, Christian Molina-Walton, Sean Ogwu, Ben Pilcher, Jalen Taylor, and Mark Urena will all be honored tonight before the game against Pocono Mountain West with family and friends around midfield.

Marching band and Cheer seniors will also be honored. They will also participate in the yearly Stroudsburg tradition of the Shirt Off My Back honor, where students give an honorary shirt “off of their back” to a teacher who has been fundamental in their career at Stroudsburg. This will take place at halftime of tonight’s game.

In the midst of all of the celebration, there is a football game to be played, and it is a big one for the Mountaineers. They come into this game 3-3 on the season which is good for eighth in the division currently.

However, the team suffered another devastating loss last week, falling to Easton 43-14. Their three losses this season have come from top-tier teams in their division, Emmaus, Liberty, and now Easton. This has been a consistent struggle for the Mountaineers as they have not been able to get over the hump in their new division and beat higher-ranking teams.

Stroudsburg looks to bounce back against Pocono Mountain West on a special night at Ross-Stulgaitis Stadium. The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with kick-off at 7:10 p.m.
