Football prepares for East Stroudsburg North

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

Tonight, the Mountaineers hit the road for the first of two consecutive games against East Stroudsburg schools as they face East Stroudsburg North.

After defeating Pocono Mountain West last week, 37-7, Stroudsburg comes into this game riding high with their 4-3 record. If the season were to end today, Stroudsburg would sneak into the District XI 6A playoffs as the final seed, holding the tiebreaker over Dieruff.

A key part of Stroudsburg’s newfound success on offense has been with first-year offensive coordinator and playcaller Jacob Cirillo. Cirillo scheme has focused more towards passing the ball, which has been key in the breakout of WR Ethan Dudsak, ’25, who broke the school record for most receptions in a game last week.

The past couple of years, Stroudsburg has tried to ground and pound teams through running the ball but the teams were able to stop the run and in effect put the Mountaineers’ offense in the mud. Now, Stroudsburg has become more dangerous through the air as well as on the ground. The Mountaineers have also found success with their two-QB system with Ben Pilcher, ’25, and Jack Mitchell, ’27. The team will be relying more on the pass game ith starting running back Jaylin Rieara, ’26, out due to a shoulder injury suffered last week.

Their opponents, East Stroudsburg North, come into tonight with a 3-4 record, best for 6th in District XI 4A. North’s victories have not been quality wins though, as the combined record for those teams this season is 3-18.

The last time these two teams faced off was last season, with Stroudsburg coming out on top, 42-0. The Mountaineers have not lost to East Stroudsburg North since 2010, winning 13 consecutive games.
