The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is located within the 77,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and is the education partner of the National Park Service in this area.

Pre-registration is requested until otherwise noted.

Bridge the Gap: Intro to Orienteering
Saturday, February 3, 10:00am-12:00pm
Free
Come learn how to use a map & compass on our orienteering course. We’ll show you the basics before you try to find all the points. Space is limited – call early.  Lead support is provided by the William Penn Foundation. Please call to register.

Migrating Birds: Children’s Art Workshop
Saturday, February 3, 10:00am-12:00pm
$10 per child
Join artist Pam Rice for this exciting activity that will discuss which birds we will soon see migrating through. We will talk about their nests, the food they like to eat, the color of their eggs, and so on. We will then make our own mixed media birds using cardboard and paint. Ideal for ages 6-10. Please call to register.

Bridge the Gap: Animal Tracking & Stalking

Free
Look for animal tracks & signs, learn how to identify animals via their footprints, and how animals adapt to stalk and hunt their prey. Lead support is provided by the William Penn Foundation. Please call to register.

EcoZone Discovery Room!
Sunday, February 4, 1:00pm-4:00pm
$3 per person
Climb into a bald eagle’s nest, crawl into a bat cave, explore a beaver lodge, and dig in a fossil pit! Explore this indoor discovery room and enjoy hands-on exhibits on natural history, sustainability and the local environment. No registration required.

Eagle Watch
Saturday, February 10, 9:00am-3:00pm
$25 per person
Join us on a trip north in search of eagles and other rare wintering birds. Visit the Mongaup Reservoir, the Delaware River, & the Lackawaxen River to look for winter residents and nesting pairs. Bring a lunch, camera & warm clothes. Call to reserve a seat in the van – Maximum of 18 spaces.

Winter Ecology Hike
Saturday, February 10, 10:00am-12:00pm
$5 per person
Learn how different plants and animals survive the winter. Join us on a hike and experience PEEC in the wintertime. All ages welcome. Please call to register.

Korean Cooking Class
Saturday, February 10, 10:00am-1:00pm
$25 per person
Experience a new world of flavor as you learn to create traditional Korean dishes and spreads. In this class you will prepare a banchan spread, jap chae, and a bibimbap rice bowl. Class includes all supplies, a pair of chopsticks to take home, and lunch. Pre-registration is required. Class is for ages 16+.

Bridge the Gap: Intro to Snowshoeing

Free
Learn the basics of snowshoeing and enjoy a winter walk through the woods.  No experience necessary – we provide the equipment and teach you everything you need to know.  Register early to reserve a pair of snowshoes & guarantee a spot.
Check our Facebook page for pop-up availability.
Nature Photography will be offered as an alternative program in the event of no snow.
Lead support is provided by the William Penn Foundation.

President’s Day Family Camp Weekend
February 16-19
$260 per adult or child (commuter / day rates available)
Bring your friends and family to experience PEEC in the wintertime.  Plenty of programs to pick from, such as cross country skiing, animal tracking, nature hikes, campfire and more!  Price includes three nights of lodging and meals from Friday dinner through Monday lunch. Join us for a wonderful winter weekend!

Frozen Waterfall Tour

$10 per person
The Delaware Water Gap has quite a few waterfalls within the park that all flow into the Delaware River.  Join us for the morning as we check out some of the larger and well known falls in the park. Payment is due at registration. Spaces are limited so call early!

Vegan Board Game Dinner

PEEC is pleased to announce our 6th annual Vegan Board Game Dinner!  Play board games and unleash your competitive spirit as you enjoy a fantastic meal with all plant-based ingredients.  Not a vegan?  Not a problem!  Bring the whole family for a fun and exciting evening.  Payment required at registration.  Call early to reserve your seats. Wacky Science Adventures: Physics Edition

$8 per child
Put on your lab coats and prepare to conduct some crazy experiments!  You’ll get to build your own rocket, create a cushion for an egg, and more. Prepare to get your hands a little dirty!  Great for kids! Please call to register.
