FBLA celebrates students’ victories at the state level

Stroudsburg’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), is known for its vast number of members and success rates at competitions. Every year, members beat out the competition at the Regional level and attend the state competition at Hershey Park.

Stroudsburg’s FBLA is the largest chapter throughout the organization. With 185 members, FBLA is the biggest club at Stroudsburg High School.

This year, 95 members competed at the Regional levels and 58 are advancing to compete at States.

Jodie Haggerty, the club’s advisor, when asked if she worried about the competition stated, “Stroudsburg is very well known at Hershey due to our past success in so many categories. I do not doubt that our members will rise to the occasion again this year.”

The state competition will be taking place from April 7 to April 10, 2024. Members will get to hear business leaders give lectures, spend time with other chapter members, and win awards.

Haggerty believes that “the state competition offers numerous avenues for our members to engage and grow. Beyond participating in their events, students have the opportunity to attend presentation sessions to either show support for their peers or simply gain insight into different aspects of the competition.”

Throughout the competition, attendees participate in various workshops that enhance their skills. Past workshops have covered topics such as creating detailed resumes, navigating college plans, exploring internships, and networking with individuals from across Pennsylvania.

“Members who partake in competitions often leverage their achievements as valuable additions to their resumes, benefitting both future job prospects and college applications,” said Haggerty.

Isaiah Louis-Jacques, 12, Senior Vice President of FBLA, said “FBLA has taught me the value of competition and helped me develop important core skills. I’m so proud of our chapter’s members having such a high success rate this year and I look forward to seeing my fellow peers go to nationals.“
