Father of suspected shooter allegedly aided son in fleeing scene

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Pike County father has been arrested in connection with a homicide after his son allegedly shot a teenager at a Wawa last year in Monroe County, according to District Attorney Mike Mancuso.

Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso stated that 54-year-old Joseph Quattrochi was arrested a his home in Bushkill.

He is charged with aiding his son, 25-year-old Andrew Quattrochi, get away from the crime scene with the firearm that he allegedly used to shoot and kill 17-year-old Garrett Gearheart on November 30.

Andrew Quattrochi is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on January 13 for the homicide charges.

Officials say the shooting occurred after Gearheart tried breaking up a fight between one of his friends, Andrew Quattrochi, and his 15-year-old brother.

Andrew Quattrochi shoved Gearheart to the ground where he shot him and fled the scene, according to the complaint.

Police say surveillance cameras helped them determine Joseph Quattrochi walked with his 15-year-old son knowing there would be a confrontation inside the Wawa, and was next to Andrew when he shot Gearhart.

Officials note that after the shooting, Joseph Quattrochi fled with his sons and other people associated in his 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Mancuso states that Joseph Quattrochi is in jail on $500,000 bail. He is being held on charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, hindering apprehension, and ten counts recklessly endangering another person among other charges.

His preliminary hearing is set for January 23.
