MANA de East Stroudsburg University is beginning its first full academic year as a nationally recognized student organization. MANA, a National Latina Organization (MANA) with grassroots membership and chapters across the country officially recognized the ESU chapter at the end of the Spring 2023 semester. MANA’s mission is to strengthen Latina Leaders through leadership development, education, community service, and advocacy. The group’s vision is one of sisterhood where Latinas respected and valued for their contributions. As the campus chapter grows they plan to create a mentoring program on campus called Hermanitas (little sisters).
This year the organization is led by President Richermy Batista, a junior political science major from Hazleton, Pa.; Vice-President Kailanny Hernandez, a senior majoring in social work from East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Treasurer Leolis Rodriguez, a senior majoring in biology from Bushkill, Pa.; Secretary Angie Ovalle, a junior majoring in social work from Bushill, Pa., and Community Service Chair Sierra DiCupe, a senior majoring in exercise science from Philadelphia, Pa.
