Brown’s Legislation to Bolster EMS and Fire Funding Flexibility Becomes Law
I’m pleased to share that my legislative package to expand funding flexibility for emergency medical services (EMS) and fire departments has officially been signed into law. These new laws update Pennsylvania’s municipal codes to help address critical financial challenges in EMS and fire staffing.
This means local governments can now allocate funds more effectively—particularly for staffing—without raising taxes. This flexibility is essential as our first responders work to meet the growing needs of our communities.
The legislative package, Senate Bills 1132, 1133, and 1134, allows municipalities to dedicate a larger share of EMS and fire tax revenue toward personnel costs, helping address the staffing shortages these services face. I want to thank Debbie Kulick from Bushkill Emergency Service for her valuable input on this legislation—community voices like hers are vital in making laws that truly meet our needs.

Honoring Judge Margherita Patti-Worthington’s Legacy
This week, we celebrated the remarkable career of the Honorable Margherita Patti-Worthington, President Judge of the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, 43rd Judicial District, as she retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

Honoring Our Veterans Across the District
This week, I had the privilege of attending several meaningful events honoring our veterans. At East Stroudsburg University, I joined a moving tribute recognizing the sacrifices of those who have served. I also stopped by a local Vietnam Era Veterans chapter dinner at Olive Garden, where it was a pleasure to connect with these remarkable individuals.
Additionally, I visited the Gilbert American Legion and my staff attended the Pocono Lions Club’s event, both of which highlighted the incredible contributions of our veterans to our community. Each gathering was a reminder of the deep gratitude we owe to those who have defended our freedoms. Thank you to all who have served!

The P.E.O. is a non-sectarian women’s philanthropic educational organization that has transformed countless lives. Over the years, they’ve helped more than 125,000 women pursue their educational goals, contributing more than $432 million in educational assistance. This sisterhood continues to empower women through six inspiring philanthropies and a foundation.
