On Saturday 11/23/24 at approximately 10:00 PM the SARPD was dispatched to the Stroud Mall for a reported fire in the area of the food court with heavy smoke conditions. Upon Officers arrival the mall was evacuating. Stroud Township Fire Department, along with additional fire mutual aid, arrived on scene shortly after Officers. All persons were evacuated from the mall and 2 persons were treated and transported to local hospitals by EMS due to difficulty breathing following being exposed to the smoke. No other injuries were reported.

Initial investigation revealed that the artificial Christmas tree in the area of the EFO Furniture wing, appeared to be the cause of the heavy smoke conditions and point of origin for the fire. Several teenagers were said to be in the area of the Christmas Tree prior to the tree catching fire. The SARPD Detective Division was contacted along with the State Fire Marshall to investigate.

This is currently an active investigation into the cause of the fire. Anyone with information on the cause of the fire, is asked to "Submit a Tip". All tipsters can remain anonymous or leave contact information for the investigating Detective.
