MONROE CO., Pa. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture says a wild bald eagle has tested positive for avian influenza (bird flu) in Monroe County.
According to the USDA, a bald eagle sample collected on April 13 was determined to have the virus on May 2. The test results were submitted by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The positive test sample comes after a case of avian influenza was previously detected in a Northampton County bald eagle on March 11, the USDA said.
More than a dozen birds across Pennsylvania have tested positive for avian influenza so far this year, according to the USDA.
