On January 24, 2025, at 2:28 pm, the Pocono Township Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check at the First National Bank in Tannersville. Upon arrival, officers encountered 66-year-old Harry J. Monroe from Camden, NJ, who was attempting to cash a $2,500 check using a fake Pennsylvania identification. Monroe was subsequently taken into custody on multiple fraud-related charges. Further investigation revealed that Monroe was also positively identified as the individual involved in a similar incident earlier this month at the same bank.
