Arrest made after burglary at a Stroudsburg pizza restaurant

STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Police say they arrested a man for allegedly breaking into and burglarizing a pizza shop in Monroe County.

According to the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, on Sunday around 2:00 a.m. officers were called to North Ninth Street in Stroudsburg for a report of a broken window at the Pocono Pizza and Wings restaurant. 

Police say on the scene they found two front windows smashed out with a metal chair and a 4x4 piece of wood lying nearby. 

Two arrested after shooting in Monroe County

Officers said they discovered Michael Samler, 22, inside the shop near the front door sleeping. Investigators stated they found Samler highly intoxicated and incoherent.

Inside the business, police saw damage to two freezers, and multiple food and other items were thrown around. Officers also noted that three tablets were on the roadway in front of the restaurant, all of which were smashed.

Samler is facing the following charges;

  • Burglary
  • Criminal trespass
  • Criminal mischief
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Public drunkenness

He remains in the Monroe County Correctional Facility on a $10,000 secured bail.
