PUBLIC NOTICE TAKE NOTICE that the Delaware Water Gap Zoning Hearing Board shall convene a hearing at the Delaware Water Gap Municipal Building located at 49 Main Street, Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County, Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 8, 2024, commencing at 7:00 p.m. The hearing shall consider the Appeal of Marshall Anders, owner of a parcel of land bearing ID # 04.93425 located on Shepard Court in the Borough of Delaware Water Gap.

Route 611 on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap could be reopening soon, much to the relief of officials in Knowlton on the Jersey side.
A temporary, free-standing rockfall barrier will be installed along the section of 611 where the rockslide occurred in December of 2022, closing the roadway.

Businesses like the Historic Castle Inn have seen fewer customers since the closure.
“Some of the signage confused people and they thought that we were closed but we’re not,” says Scott Fabian.
But now the end is in sight as the National Parks Service (NPS) and PennDOT have come to an agreement to reopen the road and install a temporary free-standing rockfall barrier.

MONROE – Sen. Rosemary M. Brown (R-40) announced today that an agreement has been reached between the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the National Park Service to begin temporary work on Route 611 in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The agreement marks a significant step forward in reopening the roadway which has been closed since December 6, 2022, causing substantial disruption to residents, businesses and commuters.
After waiting nearly 21 months for relief, people who depend on using Route 611 through the Delaware Water Gap may finally get some relief.
U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright’s office announced Friday afternoon that PennDOT and the National Park Service have reached a compromise to reopen the highway that was closed in December 2022 because of a rockslide in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
