PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Matamoras Borough Council will conduct a Public Hearing, and thereafter may vote upon and potentially enact two proposed Ordinances amending Chapter 124 of the Borough Code, regulating Zoning.
If enacted, the first proposed Ordinance will regulate the distribution and sale of marijuana within the Borough. The proposed Ordinance, if passed, will: permit medical marijuana dispensaries as a conditional use within the C-2 zone; define terms contained within the Ordinance; requiring state licensure of a medical marijuana dispensary; prohibiting the use of certain types of structures as a dispensary; requiring a secure public entrance and theft mitigation measures; prohibiting drive-thru service and outdoor seating areas; prohibiting on-premises consumption and home-delivery services; prohibiting sales of other drugs, alcohol, or paraphernalia; prohibiting location within 1,000 feet of a school, church, day care, library, park, playground, campground, or another dispensary; requiring shielding of lighting and adequate parking and loading/delivery areas; and providing for administration, enforcement, and penalties for violations as permitted by law.
If enacted, the second proposed Ordinance will amend the Zoning Schedule of Uses to include Medical Marijuana Dispensaries as a conditional use in the C-2 zone.
The proposed Ordinances are available for inspection at the Matamoras Borough Office, 10 Avenue I, Matamoras. The Hearing shall take place on June 17, 2025, at 6:15 p.m. at the Matamoras Borough Hall, 10 Avenue I, Matamoras, Pennsylvania.
