Courthouse Construction Update - Renovation Expense Records: $38 Million (through July 2023)

I recently filed a Right to Know request related to the Courthouse Expansion Project that start in 2021.

The project was initially anticipated to cost around $50 million (see attachment re: July Newsletter), it appears the actual project cost is currently at $38 million.

John and Madeleine Leonard Unsolved Murder Update

This is a follow-up for the unsolved murders for John and Madeleine Leonard who lived in Barrett Township, Cresco, PA.  At the time these murders took place, their 5 children under the age of 18 lived here in Cresco, PA  their entire lives.  The only two surviving children left are Lori and Debbie Leonard, Twins, who have started a Go Fund Me Page in order to have both their parents bodies exhumed.

Mom sues estranged husband over snakebite after custody battle (Chestnuthill Township)

A mother is suing her estranged husband after one of his venomous snakes bit their son at a home in Pa. and he developed anxiety and PTSD as a result, according to a lawsuit recently filed in federal court.

The lawsuit—filed by the boy’s mother, Irina Mayman—said Gregory Johnson, of Monroe County, made his 8-year-old son “swear on the Bible” not to tell anyone about the incident at Johnson’s parents’ house in August of 2021, according to the lawsuit.

The Monroe County Recorder of Deeds office is now offering the new Monroe County Record Alert System to all residents of Monroe County. The record alert system will be free to anyone who would like to sign-up for the service.

If you sign-up, you will receive an email from our recording vendor, Landex, alerting you anytime a document has been recorded in our office with your name. Businesses are aslo welcome to sign-up for this service.

Bipartisan Pa. bill would authorize community solar projects | Monday Morning Coffee

A bipartisan proposal now making the rounds of the General Assembly would allow Pennsylvania to join the company of 22 other states that allow “community solar” projects that backers say “would enable access to solar energy for all Pennsylvanians,” regardless of whether they can install solar panel on their roofs or not.

“Rising costs and energy bills are very real here in Pennsylvania, and we must help find creative solutions to maintain reasonable utility costs,” Sen. Rosemary Brown, R-Monroe, the prime sponsor of the Senate version of the proposal, said in a statement.
